Summary

The HIVE Support Engineer oversees daily operations, maintains and optimizes Analytics Platform HIVE-managed data environments, and ensures reliable data flow across platforms. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performance tuning, and coordinating team efforts to improve processes and data integrity.

 

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily operational support including troubleshooting user issues and system incidents

• Optimize resource allocations, create schemas, and perform routine system maintenance and upgrades

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of HIVE-managed data environments

• Coordinate team efforts in monitoring batch jobs and resolving operational incidents

• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in big data technologies, SQL, and workflow orchestration

• Proficiency in HiveQL, SQL, and Hive performance optimization including data partitioning and indexing

• Experience in data modeling and schema design

• Ability to build automated data pipelines and operational workflows using Python, Shell scripting, or similar languages

• Hands-on understanding of Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Spark

Education/Certification Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred (or equivalent practical experience) 

Clearance Requirements

• Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an active Secret clearance is required.
