Location: Gurugram
Employment Type: Full-time (6-month fixed-term engagement, with the possibility of continuation)
Department: Pedagogy & Practice Documentation
Start Date: Immediate
About Us
The Nurturant works at the intersection of early childhood practice, developmental science, reflective pedagogy and systems change. Through our practice site, Tinker Lab, we develop and document play-based, relationship-centred approaches to early childhood education. Our work aims to make thoughtful, humane pedagogy visible, teachable and adaptable for educators across diverse learning environments, including government ECCE and Balvatika classrooms.
The Role
We're looking for a Practice Documentation Fellow to observe, document and analyse real-time classroom practice, helping translate expert practitioner knowledge into clear, transferable learning resources. Working closely with the Founder, you'll capture significant classroom decision-making, identify recurring patterns, and contribute to developing practitioner guides, decision frameworks and training resources. This is a six-month, full-time, in-person engagement designed for someone who enjoys careful observation, qualitative analysis and making complex practice accessible without oversimplifying it.
What You'll Do
- Observe classroom practice and document significant pedagogical decision-making moments.
- Maintain detailed, structured field notes while distinguishing observation from interpretation.
- Analyse classroom documentation to identify recurring patterns and underlying principles.
- Collaborate with the Founder to understand the reasoning behind pedagogical decisions.
- Develop practitioner guides, decision frameworks, scenario walkthroughs and other knowledge resources.
- Organise and maintain documentation archives, field notes and supporting qualitative data.
- Contribute to building a transferable methodology that supports educator learning across diverse contexts.
What We're Looking For
- Academic background or experience in education, psychology, anthropology, sociology, learning sciences, design research or a related field.
- Strong observational, analytical and documentation skills.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate qualitative insights into clear, practitioner-friendly resources.
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods such as ethnographic observation, thematic analysis or case-study research.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Intellectual curiosity, emotional maturity and comfort working with ambiguity and complexity.
- A genuine interest in early childhood education, reflective practice and educator development.
