Schedule: 12 hours/day, 7 days/week -- 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off

Pay Range: $20.00 -- $22.00/hour
Benefits: Room and board provided. Transportation to and from site covered by client.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a seasonal, temporary position based at a remote exploration camp on Prince of Wales Island, AK. The camp is accessible only by floatplane, helicopter, or boat -- there are no roads in or out. Employees work a 12-hour day shift, 7 days a week, on a 3-weeks-on/3-weeks-off rotation. Room and board are provided at no cost to the employee. Transportation to and from the site is covered by the client. This is a dry camp: alcohol and firearms are not permitted on site. Prescription medications are permitted with appropriate documentation.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bull Cook is responsible for all kitchen-related duties at the remote camp, including meal preparation, food ordering, inventory control, and stock rotation. This role ensures the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the kitchen and food service areas while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency. The ideal candidate is team-oriented and brings a no-job-too-big-or-too-small attitude to a remote, high-demand work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation and Production
- Prepare and cook meals for the camp crew, ensuring quality, portion control, and proper serving temperatures
- Follow and demonstrate standard recipes and departmental procedures
- Ensure meals are not prepared too far in advance and that meal schedules are consistently met
- Requisition food and supplies to meet daily menu requirements and coordinate delivery dates
Food Safety and Sanitation
- Implement correct procedures for food receiving, storage, handling, preparation, and distribution
- Inspect food supplies for deterioration and report findings to supervisor
- Inspect storage areas for evidence of vermin, insects, or mold and arrange for eradication if present
- Ensure all refuse is disposed of promptly using appropriate containers
- Maintain kitchen, equipment, and storage areas in sanitary condition in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Schedule and perform cleaning duties for kitchen and storage areas on a periodic and as-needed basis
Inventory and Supply Management
- Maintain food inventory control systems, including monitoring incoming supplies for quality and quantity
- Note food surpluses and ensure proper stock rotation
- Utilize computer systems for placing online food and supply orders
General
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid Food Handler’s Card
- 4 or more years of prior experience in food service
- Experience preparing, cooking, and serving meals for a large number of people
- Computer proficiency for placing online orders
- Ability to carry out instructions provided verbally and in writing
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen; subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion testing throughout employment
- Responsible, organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior camp or remote environment experience
