Job Description – Powertrain Validation Engineer

Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Powertrain Validation Engineer responsible for validation and testing of automotive powertrain systems, ECUs, and related functions. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in functional testing, calibration validation, CAN communication, diagnostics, HIL testing, and test automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform system, functional, integration, regression, and validation testing of powertrain systems.
- Develop and execute test cases, test procedures, and validation plans based on system requirements.
- Validate powertrain functions including Engine, Transmission, Torque Management, Fuel Injection, Emission Control, and OBD.
- Perform HIL and vehicle-level testing for powertrain ECUs.
- Analyze CAN/CAN FD communication, UDS diagnostics, DTCs, and ECU signals.
- Perform test execution using tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, INCA, MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, or ETAS.
- Analyze test logs, identify failures, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate defect resolution.
- Support calibration validation and parameter verification activities.
- Perform regression testing following software/firmware releases.
- Collaborate with software, calibration, system, and hardware teams to resolve issues.
- Prepare test reports, validation metrics, and technical documentation.
- Support ASPICE and ISO 26262 compliant development and validation activities.
Must-Have Skills
- 5–8 years of Automotive Powertrain Validation/Testing experience
- Strong knowledge of Powertrain ECU/System Testing
- Hands-on CAN/CAN FD, UDS, Diagnostics, DTC
- Experience with CANoe/CANalyzer/CANape and INCA
- Experience in HIL Testing – dSPACE/ETAS
- Strong understanding of Engine/Transmission/Powertrain functions
- Experience in test case development, execution, debugging, and root-cause analysis
- Knowledge of OBD, AUTOSAR, ASPICE, and ISO 26262
