This is an on-site opportunity - candidate must be local to the Frederick MD area.
Daily Responsibilities
- Operate out of the Public Affairs Office, assisting with legislative analysis, oversight, and communication.
- Provide advisement on legislation affecting military medical research, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and military objectives.
- Draft white papers, executive summaries, and congressional hearing materials to support effective communication with legislative stakeholders.
- Translate complex medical research language and procedures into accessible language for congressional audiences, enabling informed decision-making.
- Support annual reports, congressional taskings, and briefings by preparing high-quality documentation and presentations.
- Assist with the oversight of congressional funding and activities, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and organizational goals.
- Assist with the evaluation of technical studies, plans, and programs submitted to the Chief of Staff’s Office, providing expert analysis and recommendations.
- Coordinate organization-level taskers, including collaboration with subordinate laboratories and research area directorates to ensure timely and accurate responses.
- Assist with submissions to Defense Health Program (DHP) Program Objective Memorandum (POM) funding reviews and strategic planning documents.
- Translate complicated medical research language and procedures into formats understandable by non-technical personnel, enabling decision-makers to apply sound acquisition and business practices to scientific solutions.
- Assist with database entry and data administration for Congressional Affairs Coordination Office (CACO) and congressional data management
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, as mandated by our government client.
- Must be local to the Frederick MD area and be on-site full-time. Hybrid schedule may be supported in the future.
- Must be able to complete/qualify/obtain a secret security clearance. Active current secret clearance is preferred.
- 7 years of related communications experience.
- Military research and/or federal government experience.
- Experience creating, executing, and measuring success of strategic communications plans.
- Requires a strong background in writing, graphic design, and video editing.
- Skilled multi-tasker who takes initiative, able to work well under tight deadlines, and equipped to pivot from project to project depending on the most urgent needs.
- Must be an extremely organized communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely distill policy positions into communications assets.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, or related field.
