About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer specializing in Electrical Power Electronics to join our dynamic team at GE Vernova. In this strategic role, you will be instrumental in developing and guiding advanced electrical systems and grid technologies that support our electrification and renewable energy initiatives. Your expertise will drive innovation, shape technology roadmaps, and foster collaborations with universities, government agencies, and industry partners. You will lead early-stage research, oversee technology demonstrations, and ensure the successful transition of disruptive concepts from laboratory to field deployment. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics and have at least 15 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 years of experience in the field. Extensive experience in deploying electrical systems in business and production environments, along with proven leadership in managing large projects or teams, is essential. Deep domain knowledge in power electronics hardware, control systems, grid-scale architectures, and related simulation and testing tools is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of innovation, including successful research programs, proposals, and technology transfer from concept to product. Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and service teams across GE Vernova to identify electrical and grid technology needs and opportunities.
- Partner with researchers at GE Vernova Advanced Research to analyze emerging technology trends with disruptive potential.
- Develop and maintain a strategic technology roadmap for electrical systems, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market demands.
- Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with universities, government agencies, and industry leaders to foster innovation and technology exchange.
- Design and oversee research programs that drive the electrification strategy, focusing on high-impact, high-disruption technologies.
- Lead early-stage technology development efforts, guiding ideas from initial concept through validation and product integration.
- Coordinate with business units to incorporate disruptive technologies into multi-generational product roadmaps, ensuring technological competitiveness.
- Own and demonstrate new power electronics technologies in laboratory settings, showcasing capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive the creation of comprehensive technology and product roadmaps to support long-term strategic planning.
- Lead initiatives to advance GE Vernova’s electrification, renewable energy, and power strategies, emphasizing safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership on market trends, competition, and emerging opportunities in power electronics and electrical systems.
