Headline: Power BI & Data Engineer (Fabric Migration Specialist)
Location: Remote, India 🇮🇳
Engagement Type: Contract
About the Engagement
This is a specialized, project-based engagement delivering a high-impact data transformation for one of our key clients. You will be working as part of the Nestingale delivery team to architect and execute a critical migration to Microsoft Fabric, providing the client with a modern, scalable data ecosystem. This is an ideal role for a developer who excels in precision delivery and high-visibility architectural shifts.
About the Role
We are looking for a Power Query expert and Data Architect to lead the migration of a complex data ecosystem into Microsoft Fabric. This isn't just about building dashboards; it's about transforming how data is handled—from raw ingestion in Lakehouses to sophisticated transformation via Dataflows Gen2.
You will be the primary owner of the ETL logic, ensuring that as the environment scales, the data remains clean, performant, and accurate.
What You’ll Do
• Architect the Migration: Lead the transition of legacy workloads into Microsoft Fabric, leveraging Lakehouses and Pipelines to create a modern data stack.
• Master the M Language: Develop complex, high-performance data transformation logic using Power Query (M) to handle cleansing, mapping, and standardization.
• Build Robust Pipelines: Design and manage end-to-end ETL processes, integrating data from SQL, SharePoint, and Excel into a unified source of truth.
• Optimize for Scale: Audit existing Power Query transformations and refactor them for maximum performance within the Fabric environment.
• Ensure Data Integrity: Implement rigorous validation frameworks to ensure 100% accuracy during and after the migration process.
Who You Are
• The "M" Expert: You don't just use the Power Query UI; you are comfortable writing and optimizing M code from scratch.
• Fabric-Ready: You have a strong grasp of the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Lakehouse).
• ETL Mindset: You think in terms of data flows, schemas, and performance, not just visuals.
• Analytical Problem Solver: You enjoy the "detective work" of debugging complex data discrepancies and optimizing slow queries.
Technical Stack
• Core: Power Query / M Language, Microsoft Fabric.
• Data Sources: SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel.
• Tooling: Power BI, Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouses.
