New Delhi: The School of Foreign Languages (SOFL) at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is currently seeking an academic consultant in the German language. The position is to be engaged on a short-term basis.

The contract offers a full-time consultancy for a period of six months. This period may be extended in six-monthly increments up to a maximum of two years depending on the candidate’s performance. A consolidated honorarium of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 60,000 will be rewarded for this consultancy.
Applicants must compulsorily have a Master’s Degree in German with a minimum score of either 55% in the General category or 50% in any Reserved categories. Supplementary eligibility criteria include clearance of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), and possession of a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) with a minimum of two years of teaching experience in the subject. Candidates will be given further consideration should they have published research, have knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) -based teaching methods, and/or have participated in the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) related to the German language.
Candidates must compile all required documents and testimonials together into a single PDF file. This file, along with their CV (also converted to PDF), is to be e-mailed to sofl@ignou.ac.in, with a copy sent to vikashsingh@ignou.ac.in. Should candidates choose to submit their application via the postal service, they are to title their envelopes as “Application for Consultant in German.” Postal applications are to be addressed to the Director, School of Foreign Languages, Block-15-D, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi–110068.
The deadline for receipt of all applications by the institution is 6 P.M. on 20th May, 2026.
Shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the schedule for interviews at a later date. The university will not be providing a Travelling or Dearness Allowance (TA/DA) for attending the interview.
