Role Description
The Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – CS & Operations (Sea Export) will oversee daily operational tasks associated with sea export activities. Key responsibilities include managing customer support functions, coordinating with various teams to ensure seamless export operations, preparing and reviewing export documentation, and addressing client queries. This is a full-time, on-site role located in West Delhi.
Role Overview:
Responsible for managing end-to-end sea export customer service and operations within a freight forwarding environment, ensuring smooth execution of shipments, regulatory compliance, and high customer satisfaction while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complete sea export shipments (FCL/LCL) from booking to sailing
- Act as SPOC for customers, handling queries, updates, and escalations
- Coordinate with shipping lines, NVOCCs, CHAs, transporters, and overseas agents
- Handle export documentation (Shipping Bill, BL – MBL/HBL, Invoice, Packing List, COO, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations & DGFT guidelines
- Monitor shipment timelines, vessel schedules, and manage rollovers/delays
- Share shipment milestones, delay updates, and exception management proactively
- Maintain strong relationships with shippers, consignees, and overseas agents
- Work on freight pricing, costing, and job profitability
- Coordinate with CHA (Custom House Agents) for customs clearance
- Liaise with transporters for container pickup (factory / ICD like Dadri, Tughlakabad)
- Work closely with CFS/ICD, warehouse teams, and port authorities (e.g., Mundra, Nhava Sheva)
- Negotiate freight rates and local charges with shipping lines and vendors
🔹 Pricing & Profitability
- Work closely with the pricing team to procure competitive freight rates
- Ensure correct application of freight, surcharges, and local costs
- Monitor job profitability and control operational costs
- Approve vendor invoices and coordinate with finance for billing
🔹 Exception Handling & Escalation Management
- Handle shipment delays, rollovers, customs holds, and operational challenges
- Provide quick solutions and keep customers informed
- Manage escalations and ensure timely resolution
- Lead and mentor CS & operations team members
- Allocate shipments and monitor daily activities
🔹 Requirements:
- 8–10 years of experience in Sea Export – Freight Forwarding
- Strong knowledge of export documentation & customs processes
- Hands-on experience with shipping lines & NVOCC coordination
- Good understanding of INCOTERMS & international logistics
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
