<p dir="ltr"><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span>Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and teamwork;</span></li>
<li><span>Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their physical development;</span></li>
<li><span>Organize and supervise sports activities, games, and fitness programs;</span></li>
<li><span>May coach and organize after school sports programs;</span></li>
<li><span>Collaborate with other educators to integrate physical education with other subjects;</span></li>
<li><span>Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program updates;</span></li>
<li><span>Stay current with best practices in physical education and implement innovative teaching strategies.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Training and Experience </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span>Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field;</span></li>
<li><span>Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health education, and ability to design rich and rigorous disciplinary and interdisciplinary curriculum;</span></li>
<li><span>Knowledge of and experience in implementing an array of best practices related to elementary and middle school-age grade level instruction; </span></li>
<li><span>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;</span></li>
<li><span>Experience in coaching or leading sports teams is a plus;</span></li>
<li><span>Knowledge of the Common Core and California State Content Standards; </span></li>
<li><span>Ability to design and/or use a variety of assessment tools and techniques to guide instruction; </span></li>
<li><span>Commitment and ability to participate as an active member of the school/district community including participating in committee meetings, school-wide initiatives, and utilizing parents as volunteers in the classroom. </span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Physical Demands and Working Conditions</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span>Outdoor classroom and outdoor playground environment; subject to frequent interruptions; and </span></li>
<li><span>Daily routine ability to exchange information via hearing and speaking; </span></li>
<li><span>Skills, knowledge, mental ability, and manual dexterity to carry out the posted duties and responsibilities of the job, interpret and implement school policies, rules and regulations, and make determinations relative to the effective performance of the essential responsibilities of the position;</span></li>
<li><span>Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time to monitor student progress;</span></li>
<li><span>Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels;</span></li>
<li><span>Ability to speak in audible tones so that others, including young children, may understand clearly;</span></li>
<li><span>Ability to comprehend visual and auditory input given by others;</span></li>
<li><span>Short term and long-term memory ability required for all tasks;</span></li>
<li><span>Situations may require lifting of up to 25 lbs. (light objects as part of classroom environment)</span></li>
<li><span>Seeing to perform assigned duties with or without vision aids; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; </span></li>
<li><span>Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office and physical education equipment as needed to perform the duties of the position; </span></li>
<li><span>Ability to bend, reach walk, knee, bend at the waist, and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally;</span></li>
<li><span>May be required to attend meetings or school events outside regular school hours.</span></li>
</ul>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>Licenses and other requirements </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span>CA DOJ and FBI fingerprint (Livescan) process completed prior to the first day of school. </span></li>
<li><span>Valid CA Teaching Credentials as noted above. </span></li>

$2,600 Stipend for each MA, PhD and National Board Certification
