About the Department

This position, under general supervision of the Operations staff, is responsible for supporting and assisting in maintaining situational awareness and daily activities of PCCA properties.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in project management of on-going operations projects
  • Support in documenting operating policies and procedures 
  • Help develop plans (CAD) and specifications for Operations maintenance projects, such as laydown yards, rail yards, etc.
  • Perform field data collection and inspections
  • Assesses docks, rail, laydown areas, etc. for general condition and maintenance needs
  • Review historical project plans and documentation
  • Assist with special projects as directed 
  • Helps prepare related reports and correspondence as needed
  • Adheres to Port policy and maintains good employee relations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Physical Factors:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak or hear; frequently required to reach, use hands, finger movements, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance.

Environmental Factors:
Exposure to office and field environments.  Field environments may include adverse weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock, moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts.

Minimum Qualifications: 
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maritime, or Business Management with a focus in project management.  Candidate must demonstrate written and oral proficiency in the English language. Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must work effectively in a team environment and with varying levels of management.
