Purpose of the Role

To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Job Description for Mechanical Engineer

• Responsible for preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of manufacturing and utility equipment.
• Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of reactors, pumps, compressors, chillers, HVAC systems, vacuum systems, and utility equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, and EHS teams for maintenance planning and execution activities.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records, logbooks, SOPs, and equipment history cards.
• Support equipment qualification and validation activities including IQ, OQ, and PQ documentation.
• Participate in installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and utilities.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
• Support spare parts management and vendor coordination activities.
• Participate in root cause analysis, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures, permit systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and maintenance documentation practices.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of maintenance systems and utility operations in regulated industries.
• Understanding of GMP, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical drawings, P&ID, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to work in shifts and handle emergency breakdowns.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
