About the role

Primary Job Responsibilities

  1. Loads scheduled rubber material onto mill by hand & operates mill to remove moisture from rubber stock
  2. Monitors milling equipment to ensure efficient operation & safety; adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures & flow of materials
  3. Monitors color and surface characteristics of rubber on every batch & takes required samples; notifies supervisor when product does not meet required standards and/or there is a malfunction with the machinery
  4. Performs cut downs using knife until smooth appearance is achieved on product stock; slabs off, stacks & transports stock, as needed
  5. Cleans rubber from rollers for re-milling; sweeps mill pan at the end of each batch & keep immediate area swept & clean at all times
  6. Records & maintains production data such as quantities, types, dimensions of materials produced, quality, etc.
  7. Other duties as may be assigned by the lead or supervisor

 

Requirements of the Position

  1. Prior production experience with knowledge of materials, company machinery, operating protocols, etc. desired.  
  2. Knowledge of company’s safety programs & protocols.   Flexible & willing to work OT; excellent attendance.  
  3. Exceptional interpersonal, communication & teamwork skills.  Ability to follow instructions, understand and follow work rules/procedures & make sound decisions.  
  4. Basic math, reading & writing skills are required.

 

Physical Requirements


  1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.  
  2. Must be able to lift between 50-80 lbs.  
  3. Ability to maneuver around an array of machinery.  
  4. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel.  Color & peripheral vision; depth perception & ability to adjust focus.  
  5. Work environment conditions include:  
    1. exposure to moving mechanical parts 
    2. dust and fumes, 
    3. airborne particles and chemicals 
    4. extreme heat & loud noise level in some areas of the facility.   
  6. Ability to quickly respond to a signal when it appears.  
  7. Must be able to wear PPE (half mask respirator, safety glasses, steel toe shoes) 
  8. Must be flexible to work either first (7 am to 3:30 pm) or second 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm shift)
