POLITICO is looking for a hungry, politics-obsessed reporter to join our Brussels Playbook team.

We provide non-partisan, distinctive journalism for politics and policy obsessives across North America and Europe. We are excited about the opportunity to deepen our coverage of Brussels, part of a team producing our flagship daily morning newsletter.

This reporting role will help support the authors of Brussels Playbook by feeding in original reporting, staying informed about key events and appointments, gathering up and checking information from elsewhere, and by working with reporters from across our newsroom to keep readers ahead of what is driving the day in the EU capital each morning.

The role would suit a scoop-hungry, energetic journalist who would enjoy being immersed in European politics. This is a junior position and would be ideal for someone keen to learn about political reporting, source building and sharpen their writing.

What You’ll Do

• Part of a team responsible for reporting and writing Brussels Playbook
• Use their news judgment, fact-checking and writing skills to gather up and synthesize information across all areas of EU politics and policy
• Develop scoops and original story ideas
• Continuously build and refresh source relationships
• Contribute to building a news and appointments diary
  
  

What You’ll Need

• Politics obsessive — demonstrable interest in politics and policy, in Europe and beyond
• Motivated to learn and to develop reporting and writing skills
• Comfortable working at speed and developing longer-term projects
• Clear, quick news writer
• Self-starter with a willingness to work flexibly, particularly Sundays and in the evenings
• Fluency in English and at least two other European languages
