Role Description
The Political Social Media role at YouthCtrl is a month-long, full-time, on-site position based around UP. The person in this role will plan and execute social media strategies for a political leader and handle issue-based campaigns, including creating platform-specific content such as posts, threads, stories, and short-form videos. They will manage social media calendars, monitor trends, and engage with online communities to support campaign narratives and brand positioning. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with the team members including strategists and designers, drafting copy and visual briefs, optimizing content for reach and engagement, and reporting on performance metrics. The role involves staying current with political discourse, digital activism, and platform policies to ensure content is timely, compliant, and impactful.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Content Creation.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, including clear written and verbal expression.
- Candidates should possess the ability to analyze social media metrics, interpret audience insights, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with political communication, grassroots campaigns, or issue-based advocacy (experience in these areas is an advantage).
- Candidates should possess proficiency with major social platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and short-form video tools) and basic content tools (e.g., Canva or similar).
- Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, culture-driven environment.
- Candidates should possess a relevant educational background in Communications, Political Science, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- IIMC students highly sought.
