What’s The Role
The purpose of this role is to manage and execute all portfolio-related activities for EMEA and to lead a team of PLM Project Coordinators, Data Coordinators, and PLM Network Coordinators. These teams are responsible for end‑to‑end Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) activities, including new product introductions, replacements, withdrawals, and overall portfolio alignment.
The Regional PLM Team Lead is accountable for ensuring the operational effectiveness of supply chain portfolio activities, providing clarity on supply chain complexity and change impacts, and coordinating product portfolio actions across LSC and S&M functions (Planning, Excellence, Logistics). The role plays a critical part in maintaining healthy portfolio performance and project‑managing all portfolio changes across the region.
This is a key leadership position within the EMEA Lubes Supply Chain (LSC) organization. The lubricants product portfolio is a major lever for enabling business growth, reducing operational costs, and simplifying complexity. Reporting to the Demand Planning & PLM Manager, the role operates at the intersection of Sales, Marketing, Order‑to‑Cash (OtC), and Lubes Supply Chain, with significant cross‑functional stakeholder engagement.
This role offers substantial leadership and development opportunities, given its EMEA-wide scope and involvement in high‑volume, multi‑layered portfolio projects. What You’ll Be Doing
- Accountable for the overall portfolio management across EMEA including operationalization of the SKU introduction and withdrawal activity and the appropriate challenge to existing SKUs as candidates for withdrawal.
- Provide visible HSSE leadership, both of own team and of the broader Planning team including undertaking Shell Safety Walk and Talks at LOBPs, driving HSSE discussions with the team, ensuring compliance to REACH and product stewardship legislation within the region and ensuring consideration is given to HSSE when undertaking portfolio changes.
- Motivate, coach and develop a team of PLM Project Coordinators, Data Coordinators and PLM Network Coordinators.
- Support team members in building their competences, coaching them against the journey to excellence coaching standards IDP/development discussions. and undertake high quality Champion PLM process, improvement and best practice embedding in organization Work with the global portfolio team on improvement activities specifically targeted at reducing wastes in the process, improving current tools and processes via owning and implementation CI/ Kaizen initiatives
- Ensure that all changes to the portfolio are properly reviewed; risks and priorities are identified, mitigated and delivered within agreed timelines with optimal Time to Market and no customer/supplier impacts.
- Ensure continued engagement and alignment between supply chain and marketing on product portfolio activities within the available capacity via the Regional Portfolio DRB (Decision Review Board).
- Lead Portfolio health review process and challenge slow-moving/non performing SKUs in the portfolio in close collaboration with S&M Team. Leverage the benefit of single SKU variant and enhanced extension process to improve Time to Market and increase quick accessibility of European portfolio for the customers.
- Accountable for the overall quality of Product Master Reference Data, this role needs to ensure data issues/discrepancies are handled and minimized and no impacts to OTIF as a result of data activities.
- Working with the Finance Ops Data team in Manila on prioritising requests, resolving Data issues and ensuring compliance with the Data Quality Standards Over the last two years, LSC has successfully turned around PLM performance by reducing time to market, giving visibility on LSC capacity to handle portfolio projects, established a roboust trade offs via Portfolio DRB.
- There has also been significant improvement in portfolio health and close collaboration with critical stakeholders. On the top of this the new European cluster and single SKU variant are key enablers to further optimization and simplification of PLM process and portfolio management.
- The challenge now is to build on this much improved foundation in order to become an even more competitive advantage for Global Commercial and drive increased value from portfolio in partnership with Marketing. To achieve this, the successful candidate will need to have a strong business acumen, commercial focus and keen interest not only in developments in supply chain, but also in the Lubricants business.
What You Bring
- Any Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management.
- At least 5 years of strong team leadership experience with a proven track record in coaching, motivating, and upskilling teams.
- Strong digital background; experience driving process automation and digitalization.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, including ability to challenge constructively and navigate complex discussions.
- High cultural awareness, with experience working across countries and diverse teams.
- Strong resilience, ability to balance competing priorities, and thrive under pressure.
- Strategic mindset with ability to convert concepts into structured operational plans.
- Continuous Improvement mindset and strong commercial instinct.
- Ability to quickly assess E2E supply chain impacts and propose optimal solutions.
- Understanding of HSSE considerations related to product portfolio changes is beneficial.
- Experience in supply chain or marketing related to product lifecycle (NPI, withdrawals, portfolio management) is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of SAP and APO is beneficial.
- Ability to manage cross‑border/regional projects in a virtual environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and negotiate trade-offs with key stakeholders in short timeframes.
- Strong relationship-building skills across varied business functions and seniority levels.
