Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site PLC Programmer role based in Chennai. The PLC Programmer will design, develop, and program PLC-based control systems for industrial automation projects. Daily responsibilities include creating and modifying PLC logic, configuring HMIs and SCADA interfaces, testing and commissioning systems at customer sites, and troubleshooting control system issues. The role involves collaborating with electrical engineering teams, interpreting P&IDs and electrical drawings, and ensuring solutions comply with safety and quality standards. The PLC Programmer will also document programs, support maintenance and upgrades, and contribute to continuous improvement of automation solutions.
Qualifications:
- Strong PLC programming skills (e.g., Siemens, Mitsubishi & Schneider) and experience with safety PLCs and DCS systems.
- Hands-on experience with HMI and SCADA configuration, motion controllers, servo systems, AC drives (VFD), and industrial communication protocols.
- Knowledge of industrial sensors, encoders, load cells, RFID systems, vision systems, and process monitoring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and industrial automation documentation.
- Understanding of industrial automation standards, machine safety practices, and basic electrical engineering principles.
- Experience in commissioning, testing, fault finding, and on-site support for turnkey automation projects.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related field.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Exposure to IoT, Industry 4.0 concepts, and integration of automation systems with higher-level monitoring or data platforms is an advantage.
- 1.5 to 2 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Mitsubishi PLCs (GX Works2/GX Works3).
- Hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal, STEP 7, S7-1200, S7-1500).
- Experience in HMI development using Mitsubishi GOT and Siemens WinCC.
- Good understanding of industrial automation systems and control logic.
- Willingness to travel for installation, commissioning, and customer support.
- Prepare technical documentation, PLC backups, and commissioning reports.
