Role Description
Applix is seeking a full-time PLC / Industrial Automation Software Engineer for an on-site role based in Chennai. The role involves developing, testing, and validating PLC software for industrial automation systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include understanding customer system designs and requirements, programming PLC logic, validating code on SIL / HIL platforms, setting up Hardware-in-the-Loop environments, and supporting global engineering teams.
The engineer will work closely with a larger PLC team and will be expected to contribute hands-on across programming, debugging, validation, and commissioning support for industrial automation systems.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or CodeBlocks
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, ABB, or similar PLC hardware and software platforms
- Good understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, or Ethernet/IP
- Experience validating PLC software on SIL or HIL platforms
- Ability to understand customer system design, requirements, and translate them into reliable automation software
- Experience setting up Hardware-in-the-Loop systems with PLCs is a plus
- Hands-on experience commissioning industrial automation systems is a plus
- Familiarity with Git or other software version control tools is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with global teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, controls software, or related engineering roles
