Role Overview
The Platform Manufacturing Head will lead strategic manufacturing initiatives for Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd – Farm Division, ensuring seamless integration of manufacturing processes from concept stage through product launch. The role is pivotal in aligning engineering excellence with manufacturing readiness, cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Lead and define manufacturing strategies aligned with product development roadmaps by working closely with Product Planning & Development, Plant Production Heads, and Component Heads.
- Drive make vs buy decisions with timely closure to ensure project milestones and launch timelines are met.
- Own manufacturing feasibility studies, ensuring early alignment of engineering concepts with plant capabilities and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Finalize RFQs, Statements of Requirement (SoR), and engineering drawings in collaboration with Production Engineering Heads, integrating process flows, investment requirements, and cost assessments.
- Lead Base Engineering Content (BEC) reduction initiatives to simplify designs, reduce complexity, and improve cost and quality outcomes.
- Act as the single point of contact for manufacturing activities related to vehicle assembly, aggregates, and technical integration across platforms.
- Guide site build activities at key project milestones, working closely with Chief Manufacturing Engineers (CME) and Line Managers (LM).
- Ensure adherence to Manufacturing Target Completion Plans (TCP) and validate production sequencing during prototype and pilot builds.
- Track, monitor, and report manufacturing quality indicators across all build phases to maintain best‑in‑class production standards.
- Deliver process and product cost targets, manage approvals, and lead Release on Change Management (ROCM) for engineering or project changes.
- Ensure smooth transition to launch teams, maintaining quality benchmarks, fiscal discipline, and budget adherence.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on part quality, process capability, internal part deviations, and TCP variances.
- Proactively escalate critical manufacturing risks and strategic issues to senior leadership for timely resolution.
- Ensure all manufacturing deliverables are completed in line with product development timelines.
Job Requirements
Experience
- 20+ years of end‑to‑end manufacturing leadership experience within the tractor industry or OEM environments, managing multiple vehicle or product platforms.
Industry Preferred
- Tractor manufacturing
- Tier‑1 OEM manufacturing organizations
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering (mandatory)
- M.Tech / PGDM / Executive MBA – highly desirable

- Proven expertise in VA‑VE, cost reduction, productivity improvement, and defect elimination.
- Solid grounding in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and PDCA methodologies to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
