Job Overview
The Senior Data scientist transforms complex cloud and infrastructure data into actionable insights that drive cost efficiency, monitoring of internal controls and performance execution across teams. Forecasting accuracy and business value, define meaningful metrics, and deliver actionable insights on control effectiveness and operational execution. This role partners across engineering (SREs), Finance, and Product teams to optimize infrastructure spend, improve transparency, and enable data-driven decision-making at scale.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large-scale cloud and infrastructure datasets (compute, storage, database, etc.) to identify cost drivers, efficiencies, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Develop models to track unit economics (cost to serve), utilization trends, and cost anomalies, identify root causes, outliers, and improvement opportunities
- Use observability tools to bridge cost to consumption, business value of infrastructure.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to create anomaly detection methods.
- Translate technical usage patterns into insights (financial, operational, etc.) for business stakeholders.
- Support FinOps and Controls governance by defining KPI, metrics and reporting standards.
- Influence decision making through clear storytelling and data driver recommendations.
- Develop monitoring frameworks: data models, refresh schedules, data quality checks, and documentation so metrics are trusted and repeatable.

Requirements
- 3+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, FinOps-related roles.
- Experience working with large datasets (billing, usage, financial data, performance telemetry).
- Experience supporting financial analysis (budgeting, forecasting, variance).
- Exposure to cloud cost management or technology environments.
- Experience collaborating with engineering and finance teams.
- Experience with forecasting, anomaly detection, and statistical modeling
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Data manipulation
- Strong data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI, Looker etc.).
- Ability to communicate complex insights to technical and executive team members.
Preferred
- FinOps Certified, Azure Fundamentals certified AWS Solutions Architect certified.
- CRISC Certification/ Understanding of Risk and Controls frameworks (NIST, CIS, CSA).
