Position Summary:
- The Platform Engineer on the Data Integration Administration team translates high level platform design into low level technical
- design and is responsible for implementing, administering, supporting, and patching the ETL Platforms and underlying Linux
- servers within the Data & Analytics area of the company. The Platform Engineer works closely with Solution Architects, Data
- Engineers, Developers, Database Administrators, O/S Administrators, and other internal users to support projects on GCP. The
- Platform Engineer is well versed in modern infrastructure platforms, industry/technology best practices; and actively works on
- improving the reliability and scalability of infrastructure.
Job Duties/Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with delivery pods and Architects to improve production deployments, platform operations, and environment stability.
- Manages the platform on an ongoing basis while performing typical run functions such as monitoring, patching, and support.
- Configures, implements, customizes, and tests software/hardware; documents software/hardware defects; and reviews and interprets error logs to diagnose errors.
- Drives governance through designing, developing, implementing, supporting, and documenting enterprise policies, standards, guidelines, monitoring services, solutions, configurations, and procedures.
- Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes required for system growth (both on-prem and cloud) by utilizing industry standard monitoring and research tools.
- Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options, implements solutions, communicates results to ensure corrective and timely action is taken, and manages incident resolution to ensure all components work together.
- Manages/Coordinates virtual and physical servers including: server provisioning, upgrading, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance optimization.
- Develops and implements Platform as a Service (PaaS) Solutions.
- Remediates platform issues and bottlenecks impacting software development activities.
- Supports the creation of documentation and artifacts used to describe the mechanisms used for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Identifies, develops, implements, reviews, and revises process improvements, procedures, and controls (including SOX) to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
- Recommends and follows security management practices, including the ongoing promotion of awareness on current threats, auditing of server logs, and other security management processes.
- Creates queries, programs, scripts, and reports supporting and adhering to change control policies that help to define and develop best practices for systems management and automation.
- Works in an Agile environment; collaborates with Operations, Development, and QA functions to develop solutions and systems that are predisposed to scalability, security, and simplified maintenance, utilizing automation whenever possible.
- Coordinates with suppliers for software support issues and end user support.
- Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
- This position will be filled in Hyderabad(GCC)
Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications:
Required:
- 4+ years’ of IT experience with at least 2 years’ in product implementation and hands-on technical activities within enterprise environments, preferably with an ETL product suite.
- Documented experience of application administration, not limited to installation, configuration, and management of Linux-based software systems.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix/AIX Operating Systems, shell scripting, package management systems, and other utilities.
- Working knowledge of version control (GitHub preferred) and automation tools such as ADO, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet etc.
- Experience with RDBMS and noSQL DB, such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Synapse DB, CosmosDB, etc.
- Experience with SaaS, PaaS, and Cloud solutions.
- Experience supporting and administering platforms in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated; detail-oriented with excellent Organization skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to issue resolution.
- Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business; available to provide 24x7 support as needed.
Recommended:
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent formal technical training and experience.
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language.
- Experience with Informatica (IICS, PowerCenter, DPM, TDM).
- Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool)
- Experience with No-SQL data stores.
- Experience implementing or supporting enterprise security products such as DLP, UEBD, SIEM, IAM, PIM, etc.
- Background in application development with HTML5, JQuery, Web Services, etc.
- Proven expertise in Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning.
- Understanding of Configuration Management and Change Management Best Practices.
