Company Description
WalkingTree Technologies, founded in 2008, is a pioneering IT services company specializing in digital and data solutions. We work closely with clients to define and execute strategies that unlock their full potential through Product Engineering, Digital Transformation, and Modernization. Our commitment to Quality and DevOps ensures agile practices and automation are seamlessly integrated into our scalable, secure solutions. Leveraging expertise in Data Analytics and cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI, Machine Learning, and NLP, we deliver innovative insights and elevated customer experiences. Our mission is to build robust technological frameworks across web, mobile, and cloud platforms with precision and agility.
Role Description
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines. Maintain and enhance GitLab CI/CD infrastructure, including shared runners, CI templates, and Terraform deployment pipelines. Troubleshoot pipeline failures and ensure autoscaling/ephemeral runners deliver fast, reliable builds and deployments.
- Deliver cloud infrastructure via Terraform. Use standard Terraform modules to define and manage GCP projects, environments, and supporting services. Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering to improve module usability and contribute documentation and examples.
- Embed security and compliance into the platform. Implement policy-as-code checks, IAM and region guardrails, container image standards, and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD pipelines, partnering with Security.
- Drive AI-powered platform automation. Use generative and agentic AI to accelerate pipeline development, infrastructure-as-code authoring, documentation generation, and troubleshooting—while ensuring quality through human review and standards compliance.
- Manage artifact and container image workflows. Work with Cloudsmith and related tooling to maintain artifact repositories, base images, and retention/scanning policies that support secure, efficient build and deployment pipelines.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting. Act as a tier-2/3 technical owner for Platform Engineering support requests, resolving issues with pipelines, Terraform configurations, GitLab projects, Cloudsmith, and GCP infrastructure—and turning repeated issues into reusable patterns or documentation.
- Onboard and enable product teams. Partner with teams to implement GitLab, Terraform, and GCP environments to accelerate adoption, then hand off with documentation so they can operate independently.
- Contribute to platform observability. Help define and instrument metrics, logs, and dashboards for CI/CD, Terraform usage, and platform health to support continuous improvement and roadmap initiatives.
- Maintain and improve documentation. Keep the Developer Hub, runbooks, examples, and how-to guides accurate and discoverable so teams can self-serve and understand platform capabilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. This job description in no way implies that the duties listed here are the only ones that team members can be required to perform.
Requirements-
- 5-7 years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling, with strong preference for GitLab CI (pipelines, shared runners, multi-stage workflows, templates)
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform as a consumer of shared modules, including: Reading and understanding module inputs/outputs, Interpreting Terraform plans/diffs and state, Wiring standard modules into team or environment-specific configurations safely
- Practical experience with artifact management, ideally Cloudsmith or similar systems for build artifacts, container images, and Terraform modules
- Solid understanding of GCP fundamentals—projects, IAM, service accounts, networking basics (VPC, subnets, load balancing), and common platform services (e.g., Cloud Run, CloudSQL)
- Experience building and operating containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes or similar orchestration technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (Bash / Python) for CI job automation, Terraform tooling, and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex issues across CI pipelines, Terraform plans/state, IAM, and GCP resources, working from logs, error messages, and metrics
- Experience with security and compliance controls in cloud or platform contexts (e.g., IAM least-privilege, vulnerability scanning, policy-as-code, audit/report needs)
- Strong communication skills; able to document decisions clearly, collaborate across Engineering, Architecture, Security, Finance, Infrastructure Engineering, Networking, and Service Delivery teams, and provide calm, clear guidance through support channels
- A service- and product-minded approach: you care about developer experience, adoption of standards, and making the paved road the easiest road
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Google Cloud or equivalent cloud certifications
- Experience contributing to or operating internal developer platforms, service catalogs, or developer portals
- Experience with observability tooling (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards) and defining or working to SLOs for platform components
- Experience using generative AI tools to assist with code, documentation, and troubleshooting
