About The Role

The Senior Professional, Platform Engineering at Cargill plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the digital infrastructure that supports critical applications and services across the organization. This position requires a highly skilled individual capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and operations personnel. The primary focus is on creating scalable, efficient, and reliable platform solutions that enable seamless application development and deployment in a cloud environment. The role involves developing high-quality code, automating deployment pipelines, and ensuring optimal system performance through continuous monitoring and troubleshooting. As a key contributor to Cargill’s digital transformation efforts, the Senior Platform Engineer will drive innovation and operational excellence, ensuring the stability and scalability of enterprise platforms.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience.
• Extensive experience supporting and enabling platforms for complex application development activities within a DevOps environment.
• Proven expertise in building and supporting fully automated cloud platform solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud services platforms, primarily on AWS, and automating cloud infrastructure lifecycle management using tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, and AWS SDKs.
• Strong proficiency in Go programming language, with additional experience in Python being advantageous.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD tooling to facilitate infrastructure code deployment, including tools like Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Golang.
• Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring tools, enabling observability and proactive issue resolution.
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, along with microservice application deployment.
• Experience automating Windows and Linux operating system deployments, managing scalable deployments through software package managers.
• Optional AWS Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, and AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions, ensuring code is clean, maintainable, and efficient.
• Lead the automation of application deployment processes through continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, adopting twelve-factor app principles to enhance deployment reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather complex requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions that align with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests, perform debugging, and troubleshoot complex issues to uphold system performance and stability.
• Recommend and implement improvements to development and deployment processes to boost efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for software applications, deployment procedures, and system configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for deployed applications, minimizing downtime and ensuring rapid issue resolution.
