Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer to join our team. The primary objective of the Platform Engineer role is to develop and manage a robust, scalable, and efficient platform infrastructure that supports the diverse needs of our engineering teams. The purpose of this role is to transform our platform into a product that empowers engineers to independently access and utilize platform resources, minimizing dependencies and accelerating development cycles. The Platform Engineer will work collaboratively with delivery teams to build and operate our cloud-based platforms, leveraging AWS Cloud services to enhance the platform's capabilities, ensuring it is secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
The Platform Engineer will build and maintain software that:
Enables iterative and incremental delivery of new product features, delivering value to our
customers.
Enforces security policies and architecture best practices.
Enables delivery team members to be self-sufficient.
The role requires a passion for automation and optimization, as well as being comfortable working in a
fast-paced environment.
Additionally, the Platform Engineer should possess a strong skill set in:
Scripting and Automation: Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) to automate
platform management and deployment processes (e.g. ArgoCD – GitOps)
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for managing
infrastructure through code.
Containerization: Deep understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and
orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Experience with monitoring tools and techniques to ensure
platform reliability and performance.
Collaboration and Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and
effectively communicate technical concepts.
By providing a self-service model, the Platform Engineer will help to streamline operations, improve
productivity, and ensure the platform can scale effectively as the organization grows. This role is crucial in
ensuring the platform meets the needs of our engineering teams, contributing to the continuous
improvement and innovation of our platform.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create and maintain automated deployment pipelines and management tools, reducing manual
intervention, minimizing errors, and speeding up the release cycle.
2. Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions to track platform performance and resource usage,
identifying and resolving bottlenecks and ensuring optimal operation.
3. Develop and enforce compliance and security policies, ensuring that the platform adheres to industry
standards and regulations, protecting company and customer data from vulnerabilities and breaches.
4. Foster seamless communication and collaboration between development and operations teams,
promoting a DevOps culture and ensuring alignment on platform requirements and solutions.
5. Develop a robust and scalable platform infrastructure that supports the company's applications and services, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
