Job Summary
We are seeking a technically proficient Plastics Engineer to lead our product design and development initiatives in Verna. This role manages the full lifecycle of a plastic product—from initial CAD conceptualization and design verification to overseeing mould maintenance and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between design theory and manufacturing reality to ensure high-quality, high-efficiency output.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design & CAD: Develop new plastic product designs; perform design verification and manage CAD files for scanned products.
- Technical Specifications: Define product specification parameters for new developments and existing samples under development.
- Mould Engineering & Project Management: Evaluate mould designs on new and existing projects. Collaborate with external partners to obtain technical feedback, monitor project status against timelines, and ensure product delivery targets are met.
- Production Optimization: Review daily injection moulding production data to identify bottlenecks, improve cycle times, and aggressively reduce rejection rates.
- Maintenance & Spares: Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities for moulds with a focus on continuous improvement. Coordinate with tooling suppliers to manage consumables by providing accurate part drawings.
- Document Control: Maintain a rigorous database of product and mould drawings, ensuring all technical documentation and consumable specs are up-to-date.
Education & Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma: B.E. / B.Tech in Plastics or Polymer Engineering, or a Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology (DPMT).
- Preferred Institutions: Educational background or Post-Graduate certification from CIPET or NTTF.
- Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in plastic product design and injection moulding.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks) is mandatory.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of polymer behavior, mould construction, and "Design for Manufacturing" (DFM) principles.
