Here is the job description highlighting details of this role:

  1. JOB TITLE DESCRIPTION:
  • The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating and ensuring sufficient resources are available for his/her respective area while focusing on and adhering to Quality & Business Operating Systems and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.

 

  1. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 
  • This position Directly reports to: Plant Manager
  • This position has Direct reporting responsibility over production cell leaders, molding technicians, machine operators


  1. RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

 The responsibilities and authorities for this position include, but are certainly not limited to: 

  • Assisting in development & implementation of Quality & Business Operating Systems
  • Ensure Plant Wide compliance to the above mentioned systems & practices
  • Coordinating the daily activities of the facility as set out by the Plant Manager
  • Assist HR in development and implementation of policies, procedures and goals
  • Confer with customers as needed to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services
  • Develop plans for efficient use of materials, equipment and employees
  • Develop team atmosphere by using cross-functional teams during planning and implementation reviews which should include all levels of employees
  • Be an active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts
  • Be an example to all employees through demonstrated professionalism and the ability to make accurate and timely decisions
  • Where necessary, provide planned or unplanned absence replacement support for Cell Leaders
  • Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 Standards, and company policies and procedures. 
  • During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures, and participate in corrective action activities as necessary. 
  • Promote an atmosphere of team work at all times
  • Ensure that all employees work in a manner consistent with local and federal health and safety and environmental legislation
  • Ensure that a clean and safe work environment is always maintained
  • Ensure that sufficient resources are available for each department including training, safety requirements, personnel, business and shop tools through regular business meetings
  • Assist in any way to any employee, necessary to promote a successful operation emphasizing customer satisfaction
  • Be an example to all employees in all areas of the business through demonstrated professionalism, positive employee relations, and the ability to make accurate and timely decisions
  • Direct Cell Leaders in maintaining positive employee relations and a safe working environment
  • Manage the facility technical department activities including the supervision of the process and set-up technician and technical leads.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned
  • Ensure that all employees receive proper training and understand all job tasks
  • Support new product launches to achieve Company set launch goals 


        4. HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Production Manager is responsible for complying with the Company Health & Safety Program including Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards and Company Health & Safety policies. 


  1. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those who have completed some or all of a College level program. 


  1. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Manufacturing Automotive Management or equivalent with demonstrated ability to lead
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Plastics Industry or equivalent 


  1. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Understanding of expectations detailed through Organization Statements, Standards, Visions, Policies and Procedures (i.e. Mission, Values, Code of Conduct, Operational, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety) as referenced in Employee Handbooks and communicated through Orientation and/or other training awareness opportunities
  • Additional training requirements may be identified based on plant-specific location (municipality/province/state/country) and/or operational needs that are commensurate with the duties, expectations and responsibilities of the role within the specific plant
  • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
  • Possess sound financial and business insights 
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Applications, Epicor
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional work ethic, both in appearance & demeanor
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment
  • Have the ability to be trained for the above mentioned responsibilities
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stooping as needed, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, use computer and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
