Role Purpose
The Plant Supply Chain Manager is a critical leadership role, reporting into the Plant Director, responsible for ensuring seamless supply chain operations at the Vizag plant. This role drives efficiency across raw material planning, inbound logistics (both domestic and international), warehouse operations, and site inventory management.
The incumbent will play a key role in balancing cost optimization and working capital efficiency while maintaining high service levels to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. The role requires strong cross-functional coordination with procurement, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain teams for real-time decisions and building a resilient supply chain.
The Plant Supply Chain Manager would:

Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Planning
· Lead end-to-end raw material requirement planning (MRP) based on production plans and forecasts
· Ensure timely availability of all critical and non-critical materials for production
· Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and supply chain for alignments
· Monitor and optimize safety stock levels, reorder points, and lead times
· Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory through proactive planning & actions
· Drive planning accuracy through data-driven decision-making
· Identify risks in supply continuity and develop mitigation strategies.

Inbound Material Logistics
· Manage inbound logistics operations, including vendor dispatch coordination
· Oversee international shipments, including import documentation, customs clearance, and compliance
· Ensure timely material receipt while optimizing freight costs and transit times
· Develop and manage relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, and CHA
· Drive initiatives to improve logistics efficiency and cost optimization
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.

Warehouse Operations
· Lead all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, handling, and dispatch
· Streamline material flow including receipt, storage, issuance and dispatch processes for raw materials and finished goods with strict adherence to system and physical controls
· Drive full utilization and governance of WMS for all warehouse and in-plant inventory transactions. Implement and sustain Kanban boards for visual management of material flow and replenishment signals
· Manage and optimize deployment of MHE fleet (forklifts, stackers, etc.) under group leaders for seamless operations. Develop group leaders and shop-floor teams to sustain high standards of execution and accountability
· Ensure real-time alignment between system inventory and physical inventory across all locations. Establish impeccable visual management standards to reflect true inventory health at all times
· Implement and maintain best practices in warehouse management (FIFO/FEFO, space optimization, safety), reduce handling losses, and eliminate inefficiencies
· Ensure adherence to EHS standards and safe material handling practices. Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Inventory Management
· Optimize plant inventory levels to balance working capital and service requirements
· Monitor key metrics such as Days Cover and stock accuracy. Implement strategies and action for efficient inventory control
· Identify and eliminate excess, obsolete, and slow-moving stock
· Ensure robust cycle counting and physical verification processes
· Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting
· Develop and implement strategies for inventory reduction without service compromise.---
Cross-functional Collaboration
· Work closely with Procurement for supplier performance and material availability
· Collaborate with Production Planning to align supply with manufacturing schedules
· Partner with Finance to track working capital and cost optimization initiatives
· Participate in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and S&OE execution processes.

Continuous improvement & Digitization
· Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
· Lead or support lean and Six Sigma initiatives within supply chain operations
· Drive adoption of ERP systems and digital tools for planning and warehouse
· Establish KPIs and dashboards for performance tracking and decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Operations / Logistics (preferred).
· 12–15 years of experience in manufacturing supply chain, preferably in industrial goods or process industry.
· Strong experience in Planning, inventory & Warehouse management.
· Experience in managing domestic and international logistics.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory planning, and supply chain processes
· Expertise in logistics management and import/export procedures
· Familiarity with ERP and Planning systems (preferably SAP and IBP tools)
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
