Plant Manager — Busbar Trunking Systems (BBT)
Voltra Systems Pvt Ltd · Hyderabad, Telangana · Full-time · On-site
About the role
Voltra Systems is setting up a dedicated manufacturing facility for busbar trunking (BBT) systems and LT control panels (PCC, MCC, APFC, VFD) in Hyderabad — sandwich busbars, rising mains, tap-off units, and feeder boxes for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. We are pre-launch and building from scratch.
We're looking for a Plant Manager who has worked closely with BBT or LT busbar fabrication and is ready to step into full operational ownership. You will set up the production line, build the team, and take responsibility for quality, throughput, and delivery from day one. Control panel manufacturing is a secondary part of our product range — the primary focus of this role is busbar trunking.
This is a growth role. You don't need to have run a plant before — but you need to know electrical panel and busbar manufacturing deeply, and be ready to own the plant's entire operational journey from day one.
What you'll own
— Design and establish the BBT production line — conductor cutting and preparation, insulation application, housing assembly, joint fabrication, tap-off unit integration, and final testing
— Set up SOPs, work instructions, and quality checkpoints for sandwich busbar and rising mains manufacturing (aluminium and copper conductors)
— Oversee tooling setup — press brakes, CNC shearing, insulation wrapping, and torque-controlled assembly stations
— Manage the end-to-end BBT production cycle: BOM finalisation, material requisition, shop floor scheduling, in-process inspection, and dispatch clearance
— Establish and enforce quality compliance to IEC 61439-6 / IS 8084 standards including IP rating verification, temperature rise testing, and short circuit withstand validation
— Source and qualify vendors for aluminium/copper conductors, CRCA/GI enclosures, insulation materials (epoxy, NOMEX, PVC), and hardware
— Recruit, train, and manage a production team of fabricators, assemblers, and QC technicians
— Track plant KPIs — meters produced per day, rejection rate, rework %, on-time dispatch — and report to management
— Handle LT panel (PCC, MCC, APFC) production as a secondary workstream when required
What we're looking for
— 5–10 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, with meaningful hands-on exposure to busbar trunking, rising mains, or LT busbar fabrication
— Working knowledge of BBT system components — sandwich conductors, housing profiles, tap-off boxes, end feed units, expansion joints, and riser arrangements
— Familiarity with aluminium vs copper conductor selection, current ratings, and derating considerations for BBT systems
— Understanding of IEC 61439-6 / IS 8084 test requirements and what they mean on the shop floor
— Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes relevant to BBT enclosures (shearing, bending, powder coating)
— Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, BBT layout drawings, and installation specifications
— Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical with strong electrical exposure considered)
Preferred (not mandatory)
— Prior experience at a BBT manufacturer — Legrand, C&S, Schneider, Siemens, Starline, or similar
— Greenfield experience — setting up a new production line, not just running an existing one
— Knowledge of BIS certification process for LT busbars
— Exposure to production planning tools or basic ERP
Why join Voltra
BBT manufacturing in India is dominated by a handful of large players — and there is real space for a quality-focused, responsive manufacturer. You'll be the first person to build this production line, with full ownership and direct access to the founder. As Voltra scales, so does your role and compensation.
