Astr Defence is looking for an experienced Plant Manager to lead our precision manufacturing operations at our Hubli facility.
This is a leadership role for someone who can bring structure, discipline, speed, and ownership to a high-performance manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for driving production planning, machining operations, quality, vendor coordination, maintenance, inventory, documentation, and shop floor excellence.

About the RoleAs Plant Manager, you will lead end-to-end plant operations for precision manufacturing and assembly. You will work closely with design, production, quality, purchase, stores, vendors, and leadership teams to ensure that products are manufactured with the right quality, timelines, documentation, and process discipline.
This role is for someone who enjoys building systems, leading teams, solving manufacturing problems, improving productivity, and creating a strong shop floor culture.
You should be comfortable with high ownership, fast execution, practical problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead production planning and control to ensure timely execution of manufacturing schedules
- Manage purchase planning, material planning, and vendor developmentOversee precision CNC and VMC machining operations
- Drive quality assurance, inspection discipline, and process improvement
- Manage surface finishing, assembly, dispatch, and production documentation
- Support new product development, prototyping, and prototype-to-production transition
- Plan and manage tooling, fixtures, jigs, and production equipment
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines and plant equipment
- Manage inventory, stores, material movement, and stock accuracy
- Drive shop floor discipline through 5S, safety, productivity, and visual management
- Lead, mentor, and develop production, machining, quality, stores, and maintenance teams
- Identify bottlenecks, reduce rework, improve throughput, and build scalable manufacturing systems
Requirements- B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 6–10 years of hands-on manufacturing experience
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, VMC operations, production planning, quality, maintenance, and shop floor management
- Experience in defence, aerospace, automotive, machine tool, precision engineering, or related manufacturing industries is preferred
- Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation, inspection processes, tooling, fixtures, inventory, and dispatch coordination
- Ability to lead teams, build systems, solve practical production problems, and drive accountability on the shop floor
- A strong ownership mindset with the ability to work in a fast-moving, high-responsibility environment
