Plant Manager – Glass Processing Industry

Location: Taloja, Navi Mumbai

Reports To: Director of Operations / General Manager

Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the glass

processing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production, meeting

quality standards and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement and

operational excellence across all plant functions.

Key Responsibilities


1. Operational Leadership

 Direct and coordinate all daily plant operations including production, maintenance,

quality control, and shipping to meet production targets, cost, quality, and delivery

performance.

 Ensure raw materials are available and production schedules are accurately planned

and executed.

 Monitor overall performance and implement corrective actions where required.


2. Safety, Quality & Compliance

 Establish, enforce and monitor compliance with safety protocols and industry

regulations to ensure workplace safety and environmental compliance.

 Oversee quality assurance systems to ensure products consistently meet internal and

customer standards.

 Lead regular safety and quality audits, corrective plans, and risk mitigation activities.


3. Team & People Management

 Lead, coach, and develop plant leadership team including supervisors and front-line

staff to build capability and accountability.

 Manage staffing activities including recruitment, training, performance evaluations,

and succession planning.


4. Continuous Improvement & Efficiency

 Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve

productivity through lean practices and process optimization.

 Analyze production metrics, KPIs and financial results to recommend improvements

and streamline workflow.

 Promote a culture of innovation and problem-solving among teams.

5. Budgeting & Reporting

 Prepare and manage the plant budget, ensuring cost control and forecasting against

performance goals.

 Report operational performance, safety, and quality metrics to senior leadership

regularly.

6. Maintenance & Asset Management

 Ensure proactive maintenance planning and effective use of plant equipment to

minimize downtime and optimize reliability.

 Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to plan upgrades and capital

projects.

Required Qualifications

Education

 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Materials

Science, or related field.

Preferred: MBA or advanced management qualification.

 Experience

 Minimum 15–20 years’ experience in plant operations or manufacturing leadership,

preferably in glass processing or heavy industrial environment.

Proven track record of leading high-performance teams and operational improvement.

Skills & Competencies

 Strong leadership and people management skills.

 Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.

 Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

 Financial acumen in budgeting and cost control.

 Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

 Ability to work in a dynamic production environment and drive results.


Working Conditions

 On-site position with frequent interaction on the plant floor.

 Requires oversight of production and response to plant needs beyond standard office

times.
