We are seeking an experienced and highly driven Plant HR Manager to oversee all human resources operations within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will act as a strategic partner to the plant leadership team while managing day-to-day HR functions. This role requires a strong focus on industrial relations (IR), high-volume talent acquisition, statutory compliance, employee welfare, and building a high-performance culture on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industrial & Employee Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances and conflict resolution on the shop floor.
Maintain harmonious relationships between management and employees (and trade unions/committees, if applicable).
Conduct domestic inquiries and manage disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies and local labor laws.
Proactively gauge plant morale and implement engagement initiatives tailored to a manufacturing environment.
2. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Drive end-to-end recruitment for both white-collar (management/engineering) and blue-collar (workforce/technicians) roles.
Design and optimize high-volume recruitment workflows to ensure rapid deployment of manpower during peak production cycles.
Oversee comprehensive induction and safety orientation programs for all new plant hires.
Manage relationships with external manpower vendors and staffing agencies.
3. Statutory Compliance & Administration
Ensure 100% compliance with all state and national labor laws, including the Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, PF, ESIC, and Workmen's Compensation.
Liaise with government authorities, labor inspectors, and local bodies for necessary licenses and audits.
Oversee time office operations, attendance tracking, and accurate payroll inputs for the plant workforce.
Manage plant administrative functions, including employee transportation, canteen services, and facility hygiene.
4. Performance Management & Training
Partner with plant leadership to define KPIs and facilitate regular performance appraisals for plant staff.
Identify training needs across the facility, focusing on operational excellence, soft skills, and mandatory health & safety (EHS) compliance.
Support supervisors in building cross-functional teams and specialized assembly-line workforce structures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s degree (MBA/PGDM) in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field. (A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical discipline is a strong plus).
Experience: [e.g., 5-8] years of progressive HR experience, with at least [e.g., 3] years dedicated to a manufacturing, plant, or factory environment.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of local labor laws and statutory compliance requirements.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in HRIS platforms, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and intermediate-to-advanced MS Excel skills for HR analytics and reporting.
Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, strong negotiation and mediation skills, and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
Language: Fluency in English and [Local Language, e.g., Hindi/Punjabi] is required for effective communication across all levels of the plant hierarchy.
