Company Description
Prysm Filters, a part of the Velankani Group, is dedicated to developing high-performance air filtration solutions that create cleaner, safer, and energy-efficient indoor environments. Designed for sectors such as commercial buildings, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and cleanrooms, our products deliver consistent performance and long service life. By combining innovation, high-quality materials, and strict adherence to industry standards, we aim to help reduce airborne pollutants and ensure healthier spaces. With a commitment to robust engineering and responsive customer support, Prysm Filters focuses on providing tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of its clients.
Role Description
The Plant Head – Gas Phase Filtration will be a founding technical leader responsible for setting up and operationalizing Prysm Filters' molecular/gas phase filtration manufacturing plant from the ground up. This is a strategic, hands-on role that combines deep technical expertise in gas phase filtration with strong plant management and execution capabilities. The incumbent will own everything from facility planning and equipment procurement to process design, team building, and quality systems and will be instrumental in bringing Prysm Filters' molecular filtration product line to market.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Plant Setup & Commissioning
- Lead end-to-end setup of the gas phase / molecular filtration manufacturing plant, including layout planning, utility requirements, and equipment installation.
- Define and procure key plant machinery — impregnation lines, media slitting, pleating, frame assembly, testing equipment, and related infrastructure.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production and testing processes.
- Commission the plant and oversee trial runs, ensuring readiness for full-scale production.
- Ensure the plant meets all regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
Technical & Process Leadership
- Develop manufacturing processes for gas phase filtration products including activated carbon filters, potassium permanganate media, chemisorption filters, and blended molecular media.
- Define media specifications — carbon bed depth, contact time, removal efficiency — for target contaminants (H₂S, SO₂, NOₓ, VOCs, NH₃, etc.).
- Establish testing and validation protocols in line with ISO 10121, ASHRAE 145, and EN 13779 standards.
- Lead new product development for gas phase filtration, working closely with R&D and Sales.
- Evaluate and qualify raw material suppliers for activated carbon, impregnated media, and filter housing components.
Production & Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations post-commissioning, ensuring production targets, quality benchmarks, and delivery timelines are met.
- Develop production planning, scheduling, and inventory control systems.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and control plant operating costs, yields, and material consumption.
- Prepare MIS reports on production output, quality metrics, capacity utilisation, and cost variance.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, and build the plant operations team — including production supervisors, process engineers, quality inspectors, and technicians.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and KPIs for all plant-level positions.
- Train and mentor the team on gas phase filtration technology, process discipline, and safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Establish and maintain the plant's quality management system in line with ISO 9001 and product-specific standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) norms and factory compliance requirements.
- Lead internal audits, non-conformance investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Liaise with certification bodies and customers for product qualification and approvals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to understand customer requirements and develop suitable product configurations.
- Coordinate with Procurement for strategic sourcing of media and raw materials.
- Provide technical inputs for customer proposals, techno-commercial bids, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with the broader Prysm Filters product team on particulate + gas phase combination filter development.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- BE / BTech / ME / MTech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Industrial Management or Operations Management are an added advantage.
Minimum Experience:
- 12–18 years of experience in air filtration, industrial gas processing, chemical manufacturing, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years in a plant leadership, plant head, or senior operations management role.
- Proven experience in setting up a greenfield or brownfield manufacturing facility is strongly preferred.
Relevant / Domain Experience:
- Hands-on expertise in gas phase / molecular filtration activated carbon media, impregnated carbon, chemisorption, or related technologies.
- Familiarity with applications in semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, data centres, museums, or commercial HVAC.
- Knowledge of relevant standards: ISO 10121, ASHRAE 145.1 & 145.2, EN 13779, ISO 16890.
- Experience with filter media characterization - BET surface area, micropore volume, adsorption isotherms, and breakthrough testing.
- Exposure to HVAC systems and cleanroom environments is a plus.
Key Competencies & Skills
Technical depth in gas phase filtration chemistry and media technology
Greenfield execution - ability to build systems, processes, and teams from scratch
Leadership - strong people management, mentoring, and cross-functional influence
Analytical mindset - data-driven approach to process optimization and quality control
Commercial awareness - understanding of cost structures, margin management, and supplier negotiations
Communication - ability to engage confidently with customers, consultants, and senior management
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and production management tools
