Job Title: Plant Head – Footwear Manufacturing
Location: Palwal
Department: Production / Operations
Reports To: Director
Job Summary
The Plant Head will be responsible for overall plant operations in the footwear manufacturing unit, ensuring efficient production, quality control, cost optimization, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role involves managing production planning, workforce management, process improvement, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining high product quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations Management
Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations of footwear production.
Ensure production targets are achieved as per planned schedules.
Monitor daily production activities and resolve operational challenges.
2. Production Planning & Control
Coordinate with PPC to ensure smooth production flow.
Optimize machine utilization and manpower productivity.
Implement efficient production processes to reduce wastage and downtime.
3. Quality Assurance
Ensure footwear products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Coordinate with the QA team for inspections and quality improvements.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.
4. Cost Control & Productivity
Monitor production costs and implement cost reduction strategies.
Improve operational efficiency through process optimization.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Team Management
Lead and manage production supervisors, line managers, and plant staff.
Ensure proper training, discipline, and performance management of employees.
Maintain a positive and productive work culture on the shop floor.
6. Inventory & Material Management
Coordinate with procurement and stores for timely availability of raw materials.
Monitor inventory levels to avoid production disruptions.
7. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with safety standards, labor laws, and factory regulations.
Maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the plant.
8. Coordination with Other Departments
Work closely with design, R&D, merchandising, supply chain, and maintenance teams.
Ensure smooth communication between departments to meet customer deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
MBA in Operations / Production Management is an added advantage.
Experience
12–18 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
Minimum 5–7 years in leadership role in footwear / shoe manufacturing industry.
