Plant Controller | Chakan, Pune | Established Multinational Manufacturing Group
About our client
Our client is a well-established Multinational manufacturing group with about 20 manufacturing locations and roughly 9,000 employees worldwide. Its India plant is in the Chakan industrial belt near Pune. The plant has a team of about 15–16 people plus contract staff, and turnover is expected to double over the next two years.
They are looking for a Plant Controller who will own plant finance and work directly with the General Manager and the controlling team in Germany.
The role
You will be the finance lead for a growing plant. Your work covers product costing, budgeting and capex, and you will question cost structures and find ways to reduce cost. You will report to the General Manager and work regularly with the Corporate Controller and finance colleagues in Germany.
This is a hands-on role with a lot of visibility. You will shape how the plant’s finance function scales as volumes grow.
What you will do
- Own product costing and standard costs, and keep them accurate as the product mix and volumes change.
- Prepare the annual budget and rolling forecasts, and run monthly performance reviews with the GM and site leadership.
- Challenge cost structures across material, labour and overheads, and drive cost-reduction initiatives with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering.
- Evaluate and control capex, with business cases, ROI and scenario analysis.
- Deliver monthly close and reporting to Germany, including Indian GAAP to group reporting reconciliations.
- Support audits, statutory compliance and internal controls.
- Work with the plant team and corporate finance to improve SAP processes and reporting.
What you bring
- CA or CMA (ICWA) qualification.
- About 10 years of experience in finance, mainly in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong grounding in product costing, budgeting and cost analysis.
- Experience with SAP.
- Working knowledge of Indian GAAP. European GAAP exposure is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, and comfort working with international or German stakeholders.
- Ability to be hands-on and to influence senior colleagues.
Why this role
- A stable multinational group with a long-term commitment to India.
- A plant that is doubling in two years, which means real scope to build and shape the function.
- Direct exposure to the GM and group finance in Europe.
Working conditions
- Location: Chakan, about 30 km from Pune city. Most of the team lives within 10–12 km of the plant. The company does not provide transport.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (45-hour week). Timings are fixed, with at most about half an hour of flexibility.
