Job Summary
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring all phases of solar EPC projects to ensure timely completion, resource optimization, and compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires a proactive approach to project planning, strong analytical skills, and expertise in project management tools to ensure seamless execution of solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent software.
- Define the work breakdown structure (WBS) and sequencing of project activities.
- Create baseline schedules for all project phases, including engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track project progress and update schedules regularly to reflect changes.
- Identify delays, risks, and resource bottlenecks and propose corrective actions.
- Generate progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to align project timelines.
- Organize progress review meetings to discuss schedules, challenges, and solutions.
- Resource Management:
- Estimate and monitor resource requirements (manpower, materials, and equipment) based on project schedules.
- Optimize resource allocation to achieve project milestones within the planned timeline and budget.
- Risk Analysis:
- Conduct schedule risk analysis to identify potential delays and their impact on project delivery.
- Develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies to minimize risks.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to contractual requirements, quality standards, and safety guidelines in scheduling activities.
- Maintain proper documentation of schedules, progress reports, and communication records for audit and future reference.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 4–8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, with at least 2–3 years in solar or renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in solar EPC project lifecycle management is a strong advantage.
Skills
- Proficiency in project management tools like Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software.
- Solid understanding of solar energy systems and EPC project workflows.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
