About the role

The Position

The Product Manager (PM) will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of applications. The PM will act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure that applications are user-friendly, effective, and aligned with organizational goals and finally be responsible for releasing the product / application which adheres to the desired “product – market” fit.

Skills & Requirements

Functional 

  • Market Knowledge:Strong understanding of the utilities industry, including challenges, regulations, and emerging technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with popular low code/no code platforms (e.g., Mendix, OutSystems, Microsoft PowerApps, etc.) and integration with existing systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive decision-making.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Agility: Experience with Agile methodologies, with a focus on iterative development and delivery.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot application issues and suggest enhancements.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and application functionality.

Technical / Functional (work specific) Competencies

 

  • Product Strategy: Define and execute the product vision and strategy for applications that meet customer needs in the utilities sector.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, developers, and UX/UI designers to gather requirements and prioritize features.
  • Platform Management: Evaluate and select platforms and technologies that align with business goals and ensure scalability and security.
  • User Experience: Advocate for end users by gathering feedback, conducting usability tests, and iterating on application features to improve overall user satisfaction.
  • Roadmap Development: Create and maintain a product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely delivery of features.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support for users and testers within the organization.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and adoption of applications.
  • Application Development Support and Development: Assist in the design, development, and deployment of applications, ensuring they meet business requirements. 
  • User Training: Provide training and support to users, helping them understand how to effectively use the applications and leverage the platforms' features.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business units to gather requirements, define user stories, and translate these needs into functional specifications for application development.
  • End to End Release Management: Define release scopes and timelines that align with the Product Market Fit and coordinate with customers and development teams to ensure high quality releases on time with minimal disruptions.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Set testing and quality assurance standards and ensure applications function correctly and meet usability standards before launch.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user guides and technical specifications to support application users and developers.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor application performance, user feedback, and overall satisfaction, implementing improvements based on insights gained.
  • Platform Expertise: Stay updated on the latest features and best practices, providing recommendations for improvements and innovations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with architects, developers, and UX/UI designers to ensure seamless integration and functionality of applications.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies related to the development and management of applications.
  • User Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and understand their needs, ensuring applications are intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Prototyping: Create prototypes and MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) to test concepts and gather user input early in the development process.
  • Integration & Automation: Assess existing systems and workflows to identify opportunities for integration and automation.
  • Network with Industry Peers: Maintain a network of peers in the utilities sector to stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices, collaborate on projects, and seek advice and support.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Understanding of programming languages and development methodologies
  • Experience in software development, digital transformation and data analysis.
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles, methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field.

 6- 15 years of product management experience, preferably with a focus on the utilities sector
