Job Summary
We are looking for a Piping Design Engineer with around 3 years of experience in the marine engineering/shipbuilding industry. The candidate will be responsible for piping system design, preparation of engineering drawings, 3D modelling, technical documentation, and coordination with project, fabrication, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and develop marine piping system designs for various shipbuilding and retrofit projects.
· Prepare P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication drawings.
· Develop and modify 3D piping models based on project requirements and vessel specifications.
· Perform piping routing considering equipment arrangement, accessibility, maintenance requirements, and applicable marine standards.
· Prepare MTO/BOQ, pipe specifications, valve schedules, and material requisitions.
· Review and interpret equipment drawings, technical specifications, class requirements, and vessel plans.
· Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design interfaces.
· Carry out design modifications based on client comments, class requirements, site conditions, and vessel surveys.
· Support engineering activities for new-build and ship-repair/retrofit projects.
· Assist the project and site teams with technical clarification during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and vessel attendance.
· Ensure drawings and engineering deliverables are completed within the project schedule.
· Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications.
· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for equipment and piping-related technical information.
· Participate in vessel surveys and collect necessary site measurements where required.
· Required Technical Skills
· Good knowledge of marine piping systems and shipboard arrangements.
· Good understanding of piping materials, valves, fittings, supports, and piping specifications.
· Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, equipment drawings, and piping isometrics.
· Knowledge of marine classification requirements and applicable standards is an advantage.
· Experience with AutoCAD and/or 3D marine design software such as AVEVA Marine, AVEVA E3D, Ship Constructor, or equivalent will be preferred.
· Knowledge of MS Office applications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
Maximum 3 years of relevant experience in marine engineering, shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore engineering.
