VP of Financial Transformation
Core Responsibilities:
- Define and execute enterprise-wide financial transformation strategy to modernize finance function, improve financial performance, and enable strategic business partnership
- Lead large-scale finance transformation programs including ERP implementations, financial systems modernization, process automation, shared services establishment, and operating model redesign
- Drive finance process optimization including record-to-report, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), treasury, tax, and compliance processes
- Partner with CFO and executive team to reshape finance organization from transactional to strategic—enabling real-time insights, predictive analytics, and business decision support
- Establish finance transformation governance framework including steering committees, program management office (PMO), change management, and performance tracking
- Lead technology transformation including ERP (SAP, Oracle, Workday), EPM (Hyperion, Anaplan, OneStream), RPA, AI/ML for finance, and analytics platforms
- Drive automation and digitalization initiatives including robotic process automation (RPA), AI-powered forecasting, automated reconciliations, and self-service reporting
- Oversee finance operating model redesign including centralization vs. decentralization, shared services, global business services (GBS), and outsourcing strategies
- Lead change management efforts including stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, training programs, and adoption acceleration across finance and business partners
- Establish finance transformation metrics and KPIs to track progress, measure value realization, and ensure accountability
- Manage transformation portfolio including program prioritization, resource allocation, timeline management, risk mitigation, and benefit tracking ($50M–$500M+ impact)
- Build and lead high-performing transformation teams including program managers, process experts, technology specialists, change managers, and external consultants
- Partner with HR, IT, and business leaders to align talent strategy, technology architecture, and business processes with transformation objectives
- Conduct finance diagnostics and assessments to identify improvement opportunities, capability gaps, and transformation readiness
- Develop business cases for transformation investments including ROI analysis, cost-benefit modeling, and value tracking
- Ensure transformation initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes including cost reduction, cycle time improvement, accuracy gains, compliance enhancement, and strategic insight enablement
- Drive data governance and analytics transformation including single source of truth, master data management, self-service BI, and advanced analytics capabilities
- Lead close and consolidation optimization including faster close cycles, automated consolidations, and real-time financial reporting
Typical Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or advanced degree strongly preferred
- 18+ years in finance transformation, management consulting, finance leadership, or Big 4 advisory
- 10+ years in senior finance transformation leadership roles (VP, SVP, Director) with enterprise-wide scope and budget accountability
- Deep expertise in finance transformation methodologies, ERP implementations, process optimization, shared services, and finance operating model design
- Strong knowledge of finance processes (R2R, O2C, P2P, FP&A, Treasury, Tax), financial systems (ERP, EPM), and automation technologies (RPA, AI/ML)
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-year finance transformation programs that deliver measurable business value ($100M+ impact)
- Experience in relevant verticals (technology, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, energy, professional services)
- Former management consultant from top-tier firms (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, Accenture, PwC, EY, KPMG) with finance transformation practice
- CPA, CMA, or Six Sigma certification highly valued
- Excellent leadership, communication, and executive presence; ability to influence CFO, CEO, executive team, and organization-wide stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in business case development, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making
- Experience managing large transformation budgets ($10M–$100M+) and cross-functional teams (50–200+ people)
- Proficiency with finance transformation tools and platforms (ERP systems, EPM tools, RPA platforms, analytics/BI tools, project management)
- Willingness to travel as needed for site visits, stakeholder meetings, and program oversight
