JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Transport Specialist is responsible for safely transporting patients between the clinic parking areas and the facility entrance using a golf cart. This role assists patients entering and exiting their vehicles and provides mobility support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and patient-centered experience. The Transport Specialist plays a key role in enhancing patient satisfaction by promoting safety, courtesy, and professionalism throughout all patient interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Transportation
- Operate a golf cart safely within the clinic parking lot to transport patients to and from the facility entrance.
- Assist patients entering and exiting the golf cart in a safe and courteous manner.
- Aid patients with vehicle entry and exit when needed.
- Offer wheelchair support and mobility assistance as appropriate.
- Monitor parking areas for patients who may require assistance.
Patient Service & Safety
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Ensure safe transport by following established traffic and safety guidelines.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents or hazards.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to HIPAA standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
Equipment & Vehicle Care
- Perform basic daily inspections of the golf cart to ensure safe operation.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
- Report mechanical or maintenance issues immediately.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with front desk and clinical staff regarding patient needs.
- Assist with directing patients and visitors to appropriate clinic areas.
- Support other operational needs assigned during slower periods.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to operate a golf cart safely and responsibly.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centered demeanor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capacity to assist patients with mobility and transfers safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting or supporting up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, and assist patients in and out of vehicles.
