Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT), a leading non-profit organisation based in Bengaluru, is seeking a compassionate and committed Physiotherapist to support the physical wellbeing of elders at Sandhya Suraksha, our residential care facility for destitute senior citizens.
About Sandhya Suraksha
Sandhya Suraksha - A Home for Helpless Elderly Women is a residential home located at Anepalya, Bangalore, dedicated to caring for vulnerable and destitute elders, providing them with dignity, safety, and compassionate support. Our multidisciplinary team works together to ensure residents receive holistic care that promotes health, mobility, engagement, and quality of life.
Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified physiotherapist who is passionate about working with older adults and committed to improving their mobility, strength, and overall wellbeing. The role involves conducting physiotherapy assessments, planning and implementing exercise programs, and supporting residents through structured therapeutic and engagement activities.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Physiotherapy
- Experience working with elderly patients preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to compassionate elder care
Key Responsibilities
Physiotherapy & Clinical Care
- Conduct physical assessments of all residents as per established protocols
- Maintain documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and recommendations
- Liaise with physicians when necessary regarding resident care
- Plan and implement physiotherapy treatment programs for residents
- Monitor and guide safe transfer techniques and mobility support
- Facilitate yoga and physical activity sessions when required
- Support pain management and mobility improvement interventions
Resident Engagement & Therapeutic Activities
- Conduct regular physical activity sessions as per the centre’s schedule
- Facilitate structured exercise programs for residents with varying mobility levels
- Conduct group exercises for wheelchair-bound or less mobile residents
- Facilitate music-based and sensory stimulation activities where appropriate
- Ensure safety of residents during all physical and therapeutic activities
Training & Capacity Building
- Train nursing aides and support staff on:
- Fall prevention
- Safe transfer techniques
- Active and passive exercise
- Mobility support for elders
- Promote and support a Person-Centred Care (PCC) approach in daily activities
General Responsibilities
- Visit Sandhya Kirana Home twice a week (or more frequently if required) and other centres as directed by the Centre Manager
- Support general centre activities when the Centre Manager is unavailable
- Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by the reporting authority or Trustees
