Role Description The Physician Assistant CTVS will support cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services by assisting Pediatric Cardiac surgeons in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care in an on-site role based in Navi Mumbai. This full-time position includes taking detailed histories, performing focused physical examinations, preparing patients for procedures, and participating in surgical assistance as per institutional protocols and supervisory direction. The role involves monitoring patients in critical care and ward settings, managing documentation, coordinating diagnostic tests, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely, and compassionate care. The Physician Assistant CTVS will also contribute to patient and family education, adherence to clinical guidelines, and continuous quality improvement activities within the department.
Qualifications
- Relevant academic qualification such as B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Physician Assistant, or equivalent training in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery or critical care.
- Clinical experience in CTVS, cardiac surgery, cardiology, preferably in a pediatric cardiac specialty.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, basic clinical procedures, perioperative care, and post-surgical monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Sound knowledge of medical ethics, patient safety protocols, infection control, and documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills in English and local languages, with the ability to explain procedures and care plans clearly to patients and families.
- Comfort with on-site, hands-on clinical work, flexible schedules, and managing high-acuity pediatric and adult cardiac cases.
- Commitment to compassionate, service-oriented care aligned with the mission of providing free healthcare, and openness to working with diverse communities.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic medical records, report writing, and clinical data entry; prior exposure to hospital information systems is an advantage.
