Role Description The Physical Verification Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chennai Area. The individual in this position will perform physical verification of integrated circuit designs, including running DRC, LVS, and related checks using industry-standard EDA tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing verification reports, identifying layout and connectivity issues, collaborating with design teams to resolve violations, and ensuring sign-off quality for tape-out. The role also involves maintaining verification flows and scripts, documenting best practices, and supporting continuous improvement of design and verification methodologies. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project schedules and quality targets.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess solid expertise in physical verification processes such as DRC, LVS, antenna checks, and EM/IR analysis using leading EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor).
- Candidates should possess skills in ASIC/SoC design fundamentals, including understanding of layout, floorplanning, routing, and timing closure concepts.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, TCL, Perl, or shell scripting) to optimize verification flows and manage large datasets.
- Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret verification results, debug issues, and propose effective design or layout fixes.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with design, implementation, and QA teams, and to document processes clearly.
- Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, VLSI, or a related discipline, and prior experience in physical design or verification roles.
- Additional beneficial skills include knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, familiarity with industry PDKs, experience with sign-off methodologies, and exposure to multi-site or global engineering environments.
