About The Role
The Senior PHP & WordPress Developer role at Blurn Group is a remote, full-time position designed for an experienced professional with a minimum of 7+ years of solid expertise in PHP and WordPress customization. As a key member of our development team, you will lead the creation and maintenance of custom WordPress themes, plugins, and websites, ensuring they meet enterprise-level standards for security, scalability, and performance. You will be responsible for developing bespoke web solutions, integrating third-party services, and optimizing websites for search engines and AI-readiness. This role requires hands-on technical development, project management, and mentorship of junior developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects within specified timelines. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with international clients, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to innovative digital solutions from the comfort of your home.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive work with custom themes and plugins.
- Proficiency in Core PHP, with familiarity in PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Expertise in WordPress customization, WooCommerce, APIs, hooks, filters, and custom post types.
- Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a keen eye for UI/UX design.
- Deep understanding of MySQL database architecture, query optimization, and data management.
- Experience with web performance optimization, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals.
- Solid knowledge of web security best practices, OWASP guidelines, and secure coding standards.
- Proven experience working with REST APIs, third-party integrations, payment gateways, and CRMs.
- Proficiency in Git version control workflows.
- Comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
- Strong knowledge of AEO-SEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and AI search readiness techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of high-quality WordPress websites, including themes, plugins, and WooCommerce modules, ensuring security and scalability.
- Build and enhance applications using Core PHP and frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Implement and optimize websites for AEO-SEO, including structured data, schema markup, and AI-friendly content strategies.
- Customize front-end experiences with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery, ensuring responsive, pixel-perfect UI/UX.
- Maintain and improve website performance by implementing caching, optimizing Core Web Vitals, and adhering to best development practices.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, payment gateways, and automation tools to enhance platform functionalities.
- Oversee end-to-end project delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Mentor and support junior developers, review code, and uphold development standards to ensure consistent quality.
- Prioritize security by following OWASP guidelines, safe coding practices, and ensuring platform stability.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients to translate business goals into technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design.
- Manage workload efficiently using structured development methodologies, documentation, and effective communication.
