About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our dynamic team remotely. This is a full-time, long-term position designed for professionals who are passionate about creating high-quality, secure, and scalable web solutions. The ideal candidate will possess over seven years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, with a proven track record in custom theme and plugin creation, API integrations, and performance optimization. You will play a pivotal role in leading complex projects, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating with global teams to deliver bespoke websites and web applications that meet enterprise standards. This role requires a dedicated, focused individual capable of working independently while maintaining seamless communication with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of extensive experience in PHP and WordPress development, including custom themes and plugins.
- Proficiency in Core PHP and familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Advanced skills in WordPress customization, WooCommerce, API integrations, hooks, filters, and custom post types.
- Strong command over HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery with an emphasis on UI/UX best practices.
- Deep understanding of MySQL, database architecture, and query optimization techniques.
- Experience in web performance optimization, caching strategies, and ensuring compliance with Core Web Vitals.
- Knowledge of web security standards, OWASP guidelines, and secure coding practices.
- Proven ability to work with REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, and payment gateways.
- Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
- Comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and responsive development.
- Familiarity with SEO fundamentals, especially Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), schema markup, and structured data.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional proficiency in Tamil is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of enterprise-level WordPress websites, themes, plugins, and WooCommerce modules with a focus on security and scalability.
- Design and implement applications using Core PHP and popular PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Optimize websites for AI Search Readiness, including structured data, schema markup, and AI-friendly content strategies.
- Develop pixel-perfect, responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery, ensuring high performance and UX quality.
- Ensure adherence to web performance best practices, including Core Web Vitals, caching, and speed optimization.
- Integrate REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, and payment gateways to enhance platform functionalities.
- Manage end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Mentor and review code from junior developers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including OWASP guidelines, to safeguard platforms against vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Maintain compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
- Document technical processes, manage workloads efficiently, and communicate project statuses clearly.
