About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our dynamic remote team. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work from home, collaborating with a global client base and a talented team of professionals. The ideal candidate will possess over 7 years of solid experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive expertise in customizing themes and plugins. The role involves leading the development of complex WordPress websites, WooCommerce modules, and custom web applications, ensuring they meet enterprise-level standards for security, performance, and scalability. You will play a pivotal role in managing multiple projects, mentoring junior developers, and working closely with project managers and marketing teams to translate business needs into technical solutions. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment and is committed to delivering high-quality work consistently.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, with a proven track record of creating custom themes and plugins. Strong expertise in Core PHP, along with familiarity with frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency in WordPress customization, WooCommerce, and API integrations. A solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery is required, complemented by a deep knowledge of MySQL database architecture and query optimization techniques. Experience with web performance optimization, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals is vital for ensuring fast, responsive websites. Additionally, candidates should possess a thorough understanding of web security best practices, OWASP guidelines, and secure coding standards. Familiarity with REST API development, third-party integrations, and version control workflows using Git is also necessary. A strong grasp of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and the ability to analyze and convert business requirements into technical solutions are critical skills for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of custom WordPress websites, ensuring enterprise-level quality, security, and scalability.
- Design, build, and enhance WooCommerce modules, themes, and plugins tailored to client specifications.
- Develop applications utilizing Core PHP and popular PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Implement and optimize websites for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO-SEO), including structured data, schema markup, and AI-friendly content handling.
- Customize front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to create responsive, pixel-perfect user experiences.
- Ensure adherence to Core Web Vitals, performance optimization, caching strategies, and best development practices.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, payment gateways, and automation tools to extend platform functionalities.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Mentor and support junior developers, review code, and uphold development standards across the team.
- Maintain a strong focus on security best practices, platform stability, and compliance with OWASP guidelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, digital marketing teams, designers, and clients to translate business objectives into effective technical solutions.
- Ensure websites are accessible according to WCAG 2.1 standards, cross-browser compatible, and responsive across devices.
- Plan, organize, and document development workflows, ensuring clear communication and structured project management.
