About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our dynamic team remotely. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and maintenance of complex, enterprise-level WordPress websites, plugins, and themes, while also working on custom PHP solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7+ years of solid experience in PHP and WordPress customization, with a strong understanding of web security standards, performance optimization, and SEO strategies, particularly AI and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). As a senior team member, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing multiple projects, guiding junior developers, and collaborating closely with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients to deliver high-quality digital solutions that meet business objectives. This is a full-time, remote position designed for professionals who thrive in independent work environments yet excel in team collaboration and leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive customization of themes and plugins.
- Proficiency in Core PHP, with familiarity in frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Advanced knowledge of WordPress customization, including WooCommerce, APIs, hooks, filters, and custom post types.
- Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a focus on responsive and high-performance UI development.
- Deep understanding of MySQL, database architecture, and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with web performance optimization, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals.
- Expertise in web security best practices, OWASP guidelines, and secure coding standards.
- Proven experience working with REST APIs, third-party integrations, CRMs, and payment gateways.
- Strong knowledge of version control systems, especially Git.
- Comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and cross-browser compatibility.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Mandatory knowledge of AEO-SEO, including structured data, schema markup, and AI search readiness.
- Effective project management and team leadership capabilities, with experience mentoring junior developers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects within structured methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to attend calls and collaborate with global teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of enterprise-level WordPress websites, themes, plugins, and WooCommerce modules, ensuring security, scalability, and high performance.
- Build and support applications using Core PHP and frameworks like Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Implement SEO strategies, including structured data, schema markup, and performance optimization to enhance AI and search engine visibility.
- Develop pixel-perfect, responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery, ensuring an optimal user experience across devices.
- Ensure compliance with Core Web Vitals, implement caching strategies, and optimize website performance.
- Integrate and develop REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, payment gateways, and automation tools to extend platform functionalities.
- Oversee end-to-end project delivery, managing timelines, quality standards, and client expectations effectively.
- Mentor junior developers, review code, and uphold development standards to maintain best practices within the team.
- Prioritize security, adhering to OWASP guidelines and safe coding standards to ensure platform stability and data safety.
- Collaborate with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Maintain cross-browser compatibility, accessibility standards, and platform reliability across all projects.
- Document processes, manage workload efficiently, and communicate progress clearly using structured methodologies.
