About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our remote team. This is a full-time, long-term position designed for professionals who excel in custom WordPress and PHP development, with a minimum of seven years of solid experience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading the development and maintenance of bespoke WordPress websites, WooCommerce modules, themes, and plugins, ensuring enterprise-level quality, security, and scalability. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a global client base, including projects focused on AI-driven SEO, structured data, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, mentoring junior developers, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborating effectively with project managers, marketing teams, and clients. This role requires full dedication, focus, and a proactive approach to delivering innovative web solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive work on custom themes and plugins. Proficiency in Core PHP and familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP are essential. Advanced expertise in WordPress customization, WooCommerce integration, and API development is required. Candidates should have a strong command of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a keen eye for UI/UX design principles. Deep knowledge of MySQL, database architecture, and query optimization is necessary to ensure high-performance applications. A solid understanding of web security best practices, OWASP guidelines, and secure coding standards is mandatory. Additionally, familiarity with REST API integration, third-party services, CRMs, and payment gateways is vital. Candidates should also be experienced in version control workflows using Git and possess a thorough understanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards. Strong analytical skills to interpret business requirements and convert them into robust technical solutions are essential. Knowledge of AEO-SEO (Answer Engine Optimization / AI Search Readiness) is a mandatory qualification for this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, customization, and ongoing maintenance of custom WordPress websites, ensuring high standards of quality, security, and scalability.
- Build, enhance, and support applications utilizing Core PHP and popular PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Implement and optimize websites for AI-driven SEO, including structured data, schema markup, page performance, and UX readiness.
- Customize and develop front-end experiences using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to ensure responsive, pixel-perfect, and high-performance user interfaces.
- Maintain and improve Core Web Vitals, performance optimization, caching strategies, and best development practices across all projects.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, payment gateways, and automation systems to enhance platform functionalities.
- Oversee end-to-end project delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Mentor and support junior developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and best practice enforcement.
- Prioritize security by implementing OWASP guidelines, safe coding standards, and maintaining platform stability.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, digital marketing teams, designers, and clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design principles.
- Manage workload effectively by employing structured development methodologies, documentation, and clear communication channels.
