🧬 PhD Positions Open | Immunology of Tuberculosis & Host-Pathogen Interactions
What dictates protection versus pathology in tuberculosis?
How do adaptive immune circuits shape the fate of infection?
And can we engineer better immune responses through deeper mechanistic insight?
If these questions interest you, my lab at Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai is looking for scholars to join an evolving research program in translational immunology and infectious disease biology.
🔬 Research Vision
Our work dissects the immune architecture underlying Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, with a focus on:
• Germinal center dynamics and B cell fate decisions
• T cell function and immune orchestration
• Memory B cell evolution and antibody functionality
• Host–pathogen crosstalk in drug-resistant TB
• Designing in vitro platforms to decode antigen-specific immune responses
We aim to bridge fundamental immunology with vaccine oriented and host directed therapeutic strategies.
🎓 Who Should Apply
Candidates with a strong grounding in Microbiology, Immunology, Biotechnology, or allied disciplines, and a genuine curiosity for mechanistic biology and infectious diseases. Prior research experience will strengthen your application—but intellectual rigor and scientific drive matter more.
💰 Fellowship Support
• ₹31,000/month (Regular)
• ₹37,000/month (GATE/NET qualified)
• Annual contingency grants
📅 Timeline
• Application deadline: 30 April 2026
• Entrance test & interview: 16 May 2026
• Provisional registration: 1 June 2026
🌍 You will be part of a research environment that integrates bench immunology, translational questions, and clinically relevant disease models, with opportunities to contribute to globally significant challenges in TB.
📩 Apply by sending your CV and a brief research statement to:
