Job details:
Company Description Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research university recognized among the leading research institutions in India. With eight campuses across six states and its headquarters in Ettimadai, Coimbatore, the university offers a diverse and collaborative academic environment. Amrita actively partners with top universities in the United States, including Ivy League institutions, and leading European universities to enable regular student and faculty exchange programs. The institution is known for its strong focus on research, rapid growth in higher education, and opportunities for international collaboration, making it an attractive destination for aspiring researchers.
About the Project
This project focuses on the fabrication and characterization of metal-oxide memristor devices for neuromorphic computing applications. Thin-film memristors are fabricated using microfabrication techniques such as thin-film deposition, photolithography, and metal electrode patterning, followed by electrical characterization to investigate resistive switching and synaptic behaviors. The fabricated devices are evaluated for their potential as artificial synapses in low-power, high-density neuromorphic computing systems.
Eligibility
Candidates with any of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
• M.E./M.Tech. in VLSI Design, Microelectronics, Embedded Systems, Nanotechnology, Electronic Devices, or a related specialization
• M.Sc. in Electronics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, or an equivalent science discipline with a strong background in semiconductor devices or solid-state electronics.
Desired Skills
· Basic knowledge of semiconductor devices, solid-state electronics, and microfabrication processes.
· Understanding of memristors, resistive switching devices, neuromorphic computing, and non-volatile memory technologies is an added advantage.
· Familiarity with EDA tools for ASIC and FPGA design, such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys (HSPICE, Design Compiler, IC Compiler), Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Verilog/VHDL-based digital design and verification, is desirable.
· Basic programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ for device modeling, data analysis, and embedded system development.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and teamwork skills, with the ability to conduct independent research in a multidisciplinary environment.Prior research/publication experience is desirable but not mandatory.
