About IIIT Bhopal:
Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhopal (IIIT-Bhopal) is a premier educational institute established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to advance higher education, research, and training in Information Technology. Currently, I am working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhopal.

Role Description:
I am looking for a PhD Candidate in one or more of the following research areas:
- Algebra
- Algebraic Coding Theory
- Quantum Error Correction
- Cryptography and Information Theory
- Applied Algebra in Communication and Quantum Systems
Our research aims to explore applicable algebra, particularly, algebraic structures (groups, rings, fields, etc) that lead to efficient error-correcting codes for classical and quantum communication systems. Candidates will have opportunities to work on the construction and analysis of novel code families, algebraic techniques for secure communication, and applications of non-commutative algebra in quantum error correction.

Minimum Eligibility:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with First Division in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Computer Science / Information Technology / or related disciplines, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Institute, with:
- Minimum CPI of 6.5/10 or 60% aggregate marks, and
- First Division in full-time Bachelor’s degree (same CPI or 60% aggregate).
Fellowship:
Only GATE / NET (JRF, LS, or PhD category) qualified full-time Ph.D. research scholars are eligible for the Institute fellowship.
Candidates supported by other external fellowships such as NBHM or INSPIRE are also encouraged to apply.
Fellowship amount:
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): ₹37,000 + HRA per month
- Senior Research Fellow (SRF): ₹42,000 + HRA per month
